About
ESPN4 Brazil history, coverage, features
Fox Sports Brasil is a pay-tv network working in Brazil, which is owned and operated by the Walt Disney Company. The first of the network’s channels to be launched was Fox Sports 1, which was launched on February 5, 2012 as the replacement for the channel known as Speed. The channel’s first broadcast was a Copa Libertadores game, and it has established itself as quite the source for sports broadcasts in that country. Fox Sports’ network also includes Fox Sports 2 and the channel’s website, while content aired on the linear channels might also be found on the Fox Premium app.
Over the years, Fox Sports 1 has focused on airing team sports such as football, baseball, and basketball, but there have been other disciplines aired by this channel, which have included kickboxing, motorsports, professional wrestling, and more. Additional coverage to their live broadcasts has also been included over the years, with sports debate shows also having large audience numbers.
Speaking about football, Fox Sports 1 has aired international competitions such as the Copa Libertadores and the UEFA Europa League. The channel has also broadcast tournaments from all over the globe, which have included La Liga, the English Premier League, the EFL Championship, and the Coupe de France. Domestic football has also been aired by Fox Sports 1, with the Copa do Nordeste being aired by this network over the years.
Fox Sports 1 broadcasts its content via a High Definition feed, but a downscaled version of this feed is available for users who still have SD television sets.
The channel has been targeted to disappear in Brazil, following the purchase of Fox Networks by the Walt Disney Company. Fox Sports 1 and all the network’s channels are set to merge with ESPN Brazil’s properties in 2022, although an exact date has not been set by Brazilian authorities.
