FIFA Futsal World Cup Qualifying
About FIFA Futsal World Cup Qualifying
History, Format, Organization, Media Coverage
The FIFA Futsal World Cup Qualifiers take place at least one year before the proper tournament, with their main goal being to hand out the spot or spots to play in the FIFA Futsal World Cup among the members of each confederation.
Over the years, each confederation has determined the method to hand out the slots to play in the quadrennial competition, some of which may differ. Some of the world’s confederations decided to see their continental competition as a qualifying tournament, while others chose to create a specific tournament for that purpose.
Before every Futsal World Cup, there are 23 spots to be handed out among teams worldwide, with each specific confederation deciding how to allocate those spots. Here is the breakdown of the spots each confederation has been granted:
AFC: Four teams
CAF: Three teams
Concacaf: Four teams
CONMEBOL: Four teams
OFC: One team
UEFA: Seven teams
Each confederation determines the teams that qualify for the Futsal World Cup as follows:
AFC: The four semifinalists of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup get a slot in the Futsal World Cup.
CAF: The top three teams from the 2024 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations.
Concacaf: The four semifinalists at the Concacaf Futsal Championship.
CONMEBOL: The four semifinalists at the 2024 Copa América de Futsal
OFC: The 2023 OFC Futsal Nations Cup champion.
