About TV Record

Record TV is a commercial free-to-air network owned and operated by Grupo Récord. It was launched on September 27, 1953 as TV Record and held that name until 1989, when its owners decided to to change the channel’s name to Rede Record. That name prevailed until November 24, 2016, when the channel was rebranded as Record TV. For many years, Record TV has been among the most watched television channels in Brazil.

Over the years, Record TV has been known as a general entertainment channel, with reality shows, children’s programming, telenovelas, TV series, variety shows, talk shows, and sports being aired by this network. Most of the shows aired on this channel are in-house productions, although throughout its history there have been some shows that were originally produced by other TV companies.

Speaking about sports, Record TV has aired international competitions such as the FIFA World Cup, the UEFA Euro, Pan American Games, Figure Skating championships, different editions of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League matches, and different editions of the Olympic Games, both the summer and winter versions.

Record TV began its broadcasts on a Standard Definition format, but an HD feed was developed and eventually put to good use during the early 2010s. Both feeds are still available for viewers to use.
