FIFA World Cup

2026

Norwegian pay-television broadcaster TV2 has agreed a media rights deal with FIFA for the men’s 2026 World Cup. TV2 will collaborate with NRK for their 2026 World Cup coverage and is expected to cover their share of matches live in high definition on television. TV2 is additionally expected to cover World Cup highlights, as well as complementary programming around the tournament.

Spain - La Liga

2021-2026

Commercial broadcaster TV2 has acquired Norwegian rights to the Spanish La Liga until 2026. The deal, which begins at the start of the 2021/22 season, will run for five years. TV2 will show all 380 La Liga matches every season.

Norway - 2. Divisjon

2023-2028

TV2 has secured domestic TV and digital rights to Norway’s third football division. The broadcaster will show 2. divisjon matches live on television and online from 2023 till 2028, following a massive six-season deal reported to be worth half a billion dollars.

Norway - OBOS-ligaen

2023-2028

TV2 has acquired domestic TV and digital rights to the Norwegian First Division, in a deal that will run from 2023 to 2028. The six-season agreement was part of a major decision to cover Norway’s men and women’s domestic football action on television and through digital platforms. TV2 will telecast live First Division matches, while also providing streams online.

Norway - Toppserien

2023-2028

TV2 has acquired domestic media rights to the Toppserien, Norway’s top female football division. The multi-platform broadcaster struck a deal with the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) to show live Toppserien matches on TV and digital platforms from 2023 to 2028. TV2 was reported to have paid over $20 million for the Toppserien rights back when the deal was announced in 2020.

TV2 Zebra history, coverage, features

TV2 Zebra is a Norwegian television channel owned and operated by the TV2 Group. The channel was launched under the name TV2 Extra on January 24, 2004, but it was eventually rebranded to TV2 Zebra on February 26, 2012. 

 Over the years, TV2 Zebra changed its target audience, as it was conceived as a sports channel for the TV2 Group. When its name changed, the channel’s programming also suffered some changes, with reality shows, talk shows, documentaries, sitcoms, comedy programs, and soap operas occupying most of its airtime. Eventually, some sports competitions would still be aired by this network, but not in a similar manner as in its earlier years.

After its rebranding, TV2 Zebra focused its sports coverage on football and handball, especially since the company had an exclusive agreement to broadcast the Handball World Championship. When it comes to football, TV2 Zebra has focused on broadcasting games for the Norwegian Eliteserien, the top-tier football category in the country.

TV2 Zebra was launched as a Standard Definition channel back in the TV2 Extra days, but the channel went full HD when it was rebranded. Now, users may be able to watch a downscaled version of the network if they are not able to tune into the HD feed.
