About
SRF info history, coverage, features
SRF Info is a Swiss television channel owned and operated by by the Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen. It was launched in 1999 as an experimental channel, but its proper launch came in 2001, when it began to establish itself as a 24/7 news channel. This channel was originally called SFi, but it would later be rebranded two more times before picking up its current name in 2012.
Most of the content aired by SRF Info has already been broadcast by its sister channels, SRF 1 and SRF zwei. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but most programs in this channel are in-house productions.
Speaking about sports, SRF Info has frequently been used as an overflow channel when a major sports event is taking place. In the past, SRF Info has served that purpose during Olympic Games, in some editions of the FIFA World Cup, and in the UEFA Champions League. The channel has usually aired the least relevant game of any matchday during the World Cup or the UCL, while the most attractive match has been handed to SRF zwei in recent years.
SRF Info is available in most of the country in SD, although a High Definition feed was launched in 2015.
