KPIX-TV, also known as KPIX 5, is an American English-language regional television channel owed by CBS Television Stations in USA. It serves the city of San Francisco, California. It is available on UHF channel 29 and virtual channel 5 (PSIP). Content on KPIX-TV airs both in HD and SD.
The station first got on air in December 1948 under the ownership of Associated Broadcasters. Years later, it joined CBS and was later rebranded. At some point, it was known as CBS 5, then as CBS 5 Bay Area. It is affiliated to free-to-air network Start TV and lifestyle network Dabl. KPIX’s programming includes newscasts and TV series. In the past, however, it has covered various sporting events, such as games from the MLB’s Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants, the NBA’s Golden State Warriors and the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers. Its history of major sports broadcasts additionally includes the Super Bowl. Newscasts from KPIX may be available to watch live on the official CBS Local app for Android and iOS mobile devices.
