Ketnet history, coverage, features
Ketnet is a Belgian television channel that broadcasts content in the Dutch language. It was launched on December 1, 1997, replacing BRTN 2. The channel would be later moved to a new frequency on May 1, 2012.
Over the years, Ketnet has been categorized as a channel for younger audiences, with most of its content being directed to children and pre-teens. Ketnet used to share its time-space with its sister channel Canvas when sports events took place, but Ketnet’s broadcasts have not been interrupted to broadcast sports since the channel’s frequency change in 2012.
Ketnet’s programming has been dominated by international productions, but in-house shows have also been aired on this network over the years. The channel’s content has also been available in countries such as Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Due to the nature of the channel, the content shown on Ketnet has only been available in Standard Definition since its launch.
