ERT 1 history, coverage, features
ERT 1 is a Greek television channel owned and operated by ERT, a state-funded television company from that country. It was launched on February 23, 1966 and was briefly shut down by the government in 2013, but the channel would later be relaunched on June 11, 2015. It is frequently named as ERT’s most important channel.
Over the years, and especially after its relaunch, ERT 1 has been known for its general entertainment approach to making television. The channel has aired movies, TV series, cultural shows, movies, talk shows, documentaries, magazine shows, news broadcasts, and sports. While most of the content aired on this channel has been produced in Greece, there are other shows such as movies and TV series that have been produced abroad.
Speaking about sports, the channel has covered a wide variety of disciplines, especially those who have to do with Greek teams or athletes. ERT 1 usually does not air live sports events since those duties fall on ERT Sports, one of its sister channels.
ERT 1 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed was launched to improve the viewer’s experience on December 1, 2020. Both feeds may still be available on most regions of the Greek nation.
