DirecTV Sports is a Latin American sports pay-tv channel available in South America through DirecTV. DirecTV Sports is currently available by subscription through participating TV providers in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. DirecTV Sports' sister channels include DirecTV Sports 2 and DirecTV Sports+.DirecTV Sports is available in SD on channel 610 for the localized signal and 611 for the pan-regional broadcast signal. Channel 1610 offers the localized signal in HD and channel 1611 in HD for the pan-regional signal. DirecTV Sports has overflow channels 614, 615, 616, 617, 618 and 619 to offer simultaneous live coverage of football (soccer), tennis and basketball.
The channel launched as Mundial Total before the start of the 2006 World Cup. One of the features of the Total World system was the dual screen system which allowed users the ability to watch two games at once. Shortly after its testing phase and early stages, the Liga BBVA, Ligue 1 and some Premier League games were then added to the channel's coverage.
The channel broadcasts mainstream sports with a significant interest in football (soccer).
