About AB3

AB3 is a privately funded television channel from Belgium, which is owned and operated by Mediawan Thematics. It was launched on October 6, 2001, after a brief testing period under the name Youth TV.

Over the years, AB3 has been categorized as a general entertainment channel, where films, TV series, game shows, magazine shows, and sports occupy most of the channel’s airtime. The channel has made an effort to keep in-house productions despite having signed deals with major studios from the U.S. and Canada to broadcast their content over time.

Speaking about sports, AB3 has focused on airing disciplines that have an appeal with a younger audience, with football and wrestling being those to earn a wider space in the station’s grid. Over the years, the UEFA Europa League has been the tournament with a wider coverage on this channel.

AB3 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed was made available in 2015. Despite this fact, AB3 has mostly been available in Standard Definition across the country and other territories such as Luxembourg and Switzerland.
