De Copa por México is een vriendschappelijk toernooi dat is gecreëerd door de Mexicaanse Voetbalfederatie (FMF). Het werd aanvankelijk gelanceerd als een opwarmtoernooi voorafgaand aan de herstart van het voetbal in Mexico na de pauze veroorzaakt door de COVID-19-pandemie. Uiteindelijk werd het opgepikt door Liga MX-teams om weer in vorm te komen voordat de competitiewedstrijden werden hervat na lange onderbrekingen, zoals die door de pandemie of het WK in 2022.

Aan de competitie doen een beperkt aantal Liga MX-teams mee. De eerste editie van het toernooi werd gespeeld door acht teams, verdeeld in twee groepen, terwijl de tweede editie met tien clubs in twee groepen werd gehouden. De winnaars en de nummers twee van elke groep gaan door naar de volgende ronde, waar strafschoppen worden gebruikt om de winnaar te bepalen.

Opmerkelijk genoeg hebben beide edities van de Copa por México dezelfde teams in de finale gehad: Cruz Azul en Guadalajara. Beide toernooien zijn gewonnen door Cruz Azul.

De televisierechten voor deze competitie in de Verenigde Staten zijn toegekend aan TUDN USA. In Mexico was de competitie te zien op TUDN México en via Sky Sports, waarbij het mobiele platform Blue to Go Video Everywhere de dekking voor mobiele gebruikers verzorgde.
