SBS Viceland history, coverage, features
SBS Viceland is a free-to-air television channel available in Australia. The country's Special Broadcasting Service owns the channel, and it was launched in 2009 following the success of SBS, the broadcaster's original and oldest channel.When SBS Viceland first launched, it was done so under the name of SBS Two, and it had this name until 2013, when it was altered slightly to SBS 2.
Despite being renamed SBS Viceland in 2016, the channel is still considered the broadcaster's second most important channel after SBS. Its programming is focused on light entertainment and news, although live sport has also featured sporadically over the years.
In terms of football, live coverage and replays from every edition of the FIFA World Cup since 2010 have featured on the channel. Additionally, UEFA Champions League and A-League coverage have also been housed on the channel.
Match coverage on SBS Viceland includes English-language commentary, analysis and interviews with key players and managers.
SBS Viceland is available on linear TV in Australia via channel 31 in high definition. Alternatively, users can live stream the channel via the SBS on Demand platform, which can be accessed through a web browser or an app, which can be downloaded for free onto Android and iOS devices.
