About
RDS Info history, coverage, features
RDS Info, formerly known as Réseau Info-Sports (RIS), is a French-language sports information channel based in Canada. It is owned by CTV Specialty Television Inc. and serves as a sister channel to RDS and RDS2, having been established prior to the latter.Launched in October 2004, RDS Info introduced a high-definition feed just over seven years later and underwent a rebranding from Réseau Info-Sports to RDS Info. Since its inception, the channel has concentrated on delivering sports news and results.
The channel’s flagship program is “Sports 30,” which airs live several times throughout the day. The duration of each broadcast varies, ranging from 15 minutes to an hour. Additionally, RDS Info features a continuous ticker providing the latest sports news and scores.
Before the launch of RDS2 in October 2011, RDS Info served as an overflow channel for RDS, broadcasting live sports during simultaneous matches or events. This included coverage of the National Hockey League's regular season, playoff games, and Monday Night Football. Although the frequency of live sports broadcasts has decreased, the channel continues to feature live events on occasion.
