ESPN Australia is an English-language sports channel owned and operated by the Australian division of Walt Disney’s ESPN network. While it is primarily available in Australia, the channel can also be found in other Oceanic territories, including New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and the Pacific Islands.

Launched in September 1995 as Sports ESPN, the channel was initially available through the Optus Vision cable television system. In April 1999, it became available on Austar, and just over three years later, Foxtel, which acquired Austar in 2012, added the sports channel to its offerings.

ESPN Australia's programming initially focused on sports popular in the United States, mirroring the content featured on its stateside network. This included major sports such as basketball, baseball, and American football, showcasing prominent competitions like the National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA), and Major League Baseball (MLB), alongside college football, basketball, and baseball.

Over time, the channel expanded its programming to include other sports, particularly soccer and rugby, to broaden its domestic appeal. Since its inception, ESPN Australia has featured Major League Soccer, the FA Cup, and FIFA World Cup qualifiers, although the broadcast rights for these competitions have evolved over the years.

ESPN Australia broadcasts in standard definition, with ESPN HD providing simulcasts of the channel’s programming in high definition. It is accessible through cable, satellite, and streaming providers, including Disney+.

In March 2025, ESPN Australia was added to Disney’s streaming platform. The channel has also been carried by several third-party TV providers since its launch, including Foxtel, Kayo, Fetch TV, and Sky in New Zealand.
