About
Duna TV Hungary history, coverage, features
Duna TV Hungary is a Hungarian television channel owned and operated by the Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund, a branch of the Hungarian government. The channel was launched on December 22, 1992, becoming the first TV station in Hungary to broadcast its content via a satellite feed, while also becoming the first Hungarian channel to broadcast for 24 hours a day.
Over the years, Duna TV has been labeled as a cultural channel, with most of its content being aimed at preserving the country’s language, traditions, and lifestyle. Most of the shows aired on this channel have had something to do with educational topics, public safety in Hungary, legal aid shows, news broadcasts, and more. All the content aired on the channel has been broadcast in Hungarian.
Speaking about sports, Duna TV has aired content related to disciplines such as football and other sports where Hungarian athletes are having a major role. While there are no football leagues covered by this channel, Duna TV has aired FIFA World Cup matches over the years to reach a larger audience within the country.
Duna TV was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed saw the light during the earlier half of the 2010s. Both feeds might still be available for users to watch in different pay-tv carriers across the country.
