Liverpool, after a win over their biggest rivals, takes on a Wolves side that has lost their last two Premier League games.
Liverpool put paid to Manchester United in the FA Cup this week. Dirk Kuyt was once again the hero as he scored a late winner past David De Gea, a keeper whose days at United are perhaps numbered. While Liverpool is mixing it with the big boys in the cup competitions, they are blatantly failing with the small boys in the Premier League.

Their previous game in the league was a 3-1 loss to Bolton Wanderers. Liverpool struggles against the ‘smaller’ sides. Their next match is against one such team. Wolves lost their two previous home games which came against Villa and Birmingham. They are really reeling from those losses and find themselves nineteenth in the league.

Wolves now have another assignment at home- and this one is perhaps tougher than the last two. Liverpool is playing some inspiring football- just ask Robert Mancini and Sir Alex Ferguson. Those cup victories must have given Kenny Dalglish and his side plenty of confidence to try and compete for the fourth and final Champions League spot.

For Wolves, the current goal is simply ‘survival’. Wolves has managed to survive in the Premier League for the past two seasons. This season, it seems that Wolves’ time to go down has come. The nature in which Wolves started the season shocked everyone including Mick McCarthy as they were mixing with the ‘big boys’.

Those days now seem so far away. The match will most likely end in a draw considering Liverpool’s results against the smaller sides. Wolves needs the points desperately. Expect them to defend with ten men and to try and hit Liverpool on the break. Expect Liverpool to attack for most of the match but just fail to find the goal.

Or maybe, buoyed by their cup victories, Liverpool will give Wolves a good thrashing.

Prediction: Wolves 1-1 Liverpool
