Uruguayan midfielder Guillermo Giacomazzi brings an abrupt end to Inter Milan's seven-game winning streak as Lecce win their first home game of the season.
Inter Milan missed out on a glorious opportunity to move into third place of the Serie A standings, after falling to a shock 1-0 defeat to lowly Lecce at the Stadio Via Mare on Sunday.

Uruguayan midfielder Guillermo Giacomazzi scored the only goal of the match five minutes from the half-time break to secure Lecce only their fourth win from twenty league games this season.

Inter were hoping to make it eight wins on the trot against what appeared to be vulnerable opponents, but Lecce had different ideas and made life very difficult for them in the first half, as they closed the visitors down with tight marking.

The Nerazzurri gradually picked up their game and created numerous goal-scoring opportunities but were kept at bay by Lecce goalkeeper Massimiliano Benassi, who made a number of fine saves to frustrate the visitors.

Five minutes from the break Lecce took a surprise lead when captain Giacomazzi did well to control what seemed to be a tame cross from Massimo Oddo, before firing the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.

In the second period Inter continued to dominate proceedings, and it appeared that Argentine midfielder Esteban Cambiasso had drawn them level when he headed the ball home after an earlier header from his compatriot Walter Samuel had hit the pot, however, his effort was disallowed for an offside infringement.

Moments later another Argentine, Diego Milito, found the back of the net, but his effort was also ruled out for offside, to the disbelief of Claudio Ranieri's star-studded side.

Inter peppered the Lecce goal in the final moments of the match, but it just wasn't going to be their day, as Lecce held on for their first home win of the season.
