The Netherlands crushed Hungary 4-0 in Budapest on Friday and they are looking to give their home crowd a football show against the Maygars in Amsterdam on Tuesday as well.
The World Cup runners up will be without injured Mark van Bommel again when they host Hungary on Tuesday. Bert van Marwijk did not miss his son-in-law in the away match against the Maygars on Friday, when the Dutch crushed the home team 4-0 in Budapest.

Some say the Dutch coach even got lucky to have some key players injured, because he would have had to keep star players on the bench, which could have led to unhappy players. After Friday’s convincing win there only happy faces in the Dutch team.

With Van Bommel injured, Rafael van der Vaart and Nigel de Jong played on the midfield behind the three attacking midfielders Ibrahim Afellay, Wesley Sneijder and Dirk Kuijt in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Van Marwijk is expected to field the same starting eleven on Tuesday. Robin van Persie will be the lone striker again. The Arsenal forward is back from an injury during which Klaas-Jan Huntelaar was on fire in the Orange squad. The Schalke 04 striker is injured for the two Hungary matches, which made Van Marwijk’s choice for the target man easy.

Van Persie scored the 4-0 in Budapest on Friday and he was happy with the result and the overall performance of the team. “We were a mix of FC Barcelona and Arsenal. We played a splendid passing game, but it was not just gallery play, our passing game was always aimed towards the target.” Van Persie and Van der Vaart agreed upon the good atmosphere in the team. “Everybody worked for everybody”, Van Persie said. “There used to be some jealousy amongst the players in the past”, Van der Vaart said. “But nowadays everybody plays at a big club and everybody is willing to play at each other’s service.” The Tottenham Hotspur ace will add the ninetieth cap to his tally if he plays on Tuesday. That would make him the fifth Dutch player to have ninety caps or more to his name.

With their 4-0 win in Budapest on Friday the Netherlands extended their winning streak to seven since drawing 1-1 at Ukraine in August 2010. It is their second longest winning streak under Van Marwijk, who recorded ten straight wins between March and July 2010. Netherlands and Germany are the only teams to win all five of their 2012 ECh Qualifying matches. Spain is also perfect with four wins. In ECh/WC qualifying The Dutch are on a 13-match winning streak, because they also won all eight 2010 World Cup qualifying matches.
