The Belgian star had to be substituted out in Chelsea's win over Stoke City.

Earlier today, Chelsea powered past Stoke City with goals from captain John Terry and new signing Cesc Fabregas to ensure that Jose Mourinho's men head into the brief Christmas hiatus at the top of the Premier League table.

However, the win came at a cost as Belgian star Eden Hazard suffered a knock to his ankle, fue to a rough tackle from Phil Bardsley, as per the Blues' official Twitter account:

Certainly, given his importance to the side, Jose Mourinho opted to err on the side of caution and eventually opted to take him out in the last few minutes of the game. Details about his injury, of course, will probably be forthcoming over the next few days.

The former Lille man has quickly grown into a key part of the London giants since his arrival and with the games coming one after another due to Chelsea's involvement in several tournaments, Blues fans will also hope that this injury is not too serious.

Still, with West Ham on the horizon immediately after Christmas, followed by Southampton and then Spurs on New Years' Day, his teammates, coach, and supporters will be praying for a quick return to action as Chelsea seek to clinch silverware both domestically and continentally.
