Sportsnet World is a Canadian sports channel owned by Rogers Sports and Media. Founded in August 2007, the channel broadcasts in English and is available in both standard definition and HD via cable, satellite, and streaming television.Originally launched as Setanta Sports, it was a joint venture between Rogers Media and Setanta Sports, featuring a pay-per-view model. However, in 2011, Rogers acquired Setanta Sports' stake and subsequently rebranded the channel to Sportsnet World later that same year.
A high-definition simulcast named Sportsnet World HD was introduced in August 2010. Initially called Setanta Sports HD, it also underwent rebranding following Setanta Sports' exit.
Live sports have been a cornerstone of Sportsnet World’s programming, with rugby and soccer featured prominently since its inception.
