SuperSport is a South African group of television channels available in most African countries. It is owned and operated by MultiChoice and it was launched in 1988 as a segment in the channel M-Net, but it would eventually be transformed into a sports television channel in 1995. 

Over the years, SuperSport has established itself as the top sports network in Africa. Some of the sports covered by this channel over the years have included football, rugby, cricket, tennis, golf, motorsport, cycling, boxing, wrestling, hockey, and athletics.

SuperSport Variety 3 is one of the terrestrial and streaming channels launched by SuperSport to cover several sport events, especially when there is more than one to cover at any given time. Usually SuperSport Variety 3 streams and broadcasts content related to athletics, marathon, pay-per-view and wrestling events, but it has also been used as an overflow channel whenever there are football matches taking place.

When it comes to football, SuperSport Variety 3 may cover games of tournaments to which SuperSport has broadcasting rights, which may include the English Premier League, the FA Cup, the English League Cup, the FA Community Shield, the EFL Championship, the Spanish Primera División, the Italian Serie A, the Australian A-League, the Zambian Super League, the Ethiopian Premier League, the South African Premier Division, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League, the UEFA Super Cup, the UEFA Europa Conference League, or national team tournaments such as the AFCON, the UEFA Euro, the UEFA Nations League, or the FIFA World Cup.

SuperSport Variety 3 has developed an HD feed for their terrestrial channel, although a downscaled version may be available for users who have not switched to High Definition technology. The quality of the streaming version may vary depending on the kind of connection and region of each user.
