The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (IPBC) holds the exclusive rights to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Israel. The free-to-air broadcaster secured the live rights to the tournament, which is being held in the USA, Canada and Mexico, in 2024, thanks to a wider deal brokered by the European Broadcast Union (EBU), of which the IPBC is a member.The deal means that all 104 matches at the FIFA World Cup are being shown live on free-to-air national TV in Israel on Kan 11 and Makan 33. World Cup matches can also be live-streamed through the Kan app, which can be downloaded onto smart devices for free by all users in Israel.

Makan 33 is an Israeli television channel owned and operated by the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation. This channel was launched on May 15, 2017 as a replacement to a previous iteration of Channel 33, and it broadcasts its content in Arabic language.
Over the years, Makan 33 has been known for including a large variety of topics in its programs. Shows dealing with current affairs, entertainment, sports, lifestyle, children’s programming, music, drama, movies, and cultural shows all being aired on this channel. Most of the shows included in the channel’s grid have been produced in-house, but there might be some movies and drama series from other countries being available to watch here.
Speaking about sports, coverage on Makan 33 has focused on football, with games for the 2018 FIFA World Cup being included in the channel’s programming. Moreover, the first HD broadcasts in the channel’s history came during the World Cup held in Russia. Makan 33 made history by becoming the first Israeli channel to air a football game in Arabic language with the country’s borders.
Makan 33 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but as mentioned previously, the SD option was replaced with a High-Definition feed to watch all of the channel’s shows. A downscaled version of the channel’s HD feed may be available for users who do not have access to HD technology.
