The free-to-air broadcaster secured the live rights to the tournament, which is being held in the USA, Canada and Mexico, in 2024, thanks to a wider deal brokered by the European Broadcast Union (EBU), of which the IPBC is a member.

The free-to-air broadcaster secured the live rights to the tournament, which is being held in the USA, Canada and Mexico, in 2024, thanks to a wider deal brokered by the European Broadcast Union (EBU), of which the IPBC is a member.

The deal means that all 104 matches at the FIFA World Cup are being shown live on free-to-air national TV in Israel on Kan 11 and Makan 33. World Cup matches can also be live-streamed through the Kan app, which can be downloaded onto smart devices for free by all users in Israel.

Kan 11 is a public television channel from Israel that is owned and operated by the Israel Broadcasting Corporation. The channel was launched on May 15, 2017 as a replacement to Channel 1 after the Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA) was shut down. Kan 11 is one of the free-to-air channels from this country.

Over the years, Kan 11 has been known for the variety of topics covered by its programming. Themes such as news, documentaries, comedy shows, action series, entertainment programs, sports broadcasts, and cultural shows have all been included in the channel’s grid. While there have been some international productions being aired on this channel, the IBC has also encouraged in-house productions to be aired on Kan 11.

Speaking about sports, Kan 11 has focused on covering football. The top football competition covered by Kan 11 has been the FIFA World Cup, with live games and additional coverage such as highlights being included in its programming.

Kan 11 was launched as a High-Definition channel in 2017, but some of their live events, such as the 2018 FIFA World Cup, have also been available to watch in Ultra HD. The channel may also offer users a chance to watch the channel via a downscaled version of the HD feed if they do not have access to HD technology.
