Über Iraqi Premier League

Iraqi Premier League Geschichte, Format, Organisation, Medienberichterstattung

Die Iraq Stars League ist die höchste Spielklasse im irakischen Fußballligasystem. Mit 20 Vereinen wird sie nach einem System von Auf- und Abstieg zusammen mit der Iraqi Premier Division League betrieben. Sie wird von der Iraqi Pro League Association verwaltet.

Die Liga wurde 1974 von der Iraq Football Association als Iraqi National Clubs League gegründet, die erste landesweite Liga für Vereine im Irak, und erhielt später den Namen Iraqi Premier League. Im Jahr 2023 wurde der Wettbewerb in eine Profiliga unter dem Namen Iraq Stars League umgewandelt. Im aktuellen Format spielen 20 Teams jeweils 38 Partien (jedes Team trifft zweimal auf alle anderen, einmal zu Hause und einmal auswärts), insgesamt also 380 Spiele pro Saison.
