About
TV Brasil history, coverage, features
TV Brasil is a Brazilian public television network owned and operated by Empresa Brasil de Comunicacao. The channel was initially launched on November 5, 1975 as TVE Brasil, but a merger between EBC, Radiobras, and Associacao de Comunicacao Educativa caused the birth of a new channel on December 2, 2007, the day when TV Brasil was officially launched.
Over the years, TV Brasil has aired shows focusing on five different topics: children’s programming, audio-visuals, animation, citizenship, and sports. The channel has also aired Brazilian films and has also broadcast regional content in all of its affiliates. Cooking shows, news broadcasts, and documentaries have also been available on this network. According to the channel’s reports, its feed covers over 90% of Brazil’s territory.
Speaking about sports, TV Brasil has focused its efforts on broadcasting football competitions over the years. Some of the competitions aired by this channel and its affiliates have included Campeonato Brasileiro – Serie C games and exclusive coverage of the Brasileirao Feminino. Additional coverage apart from the live games has also been available for both these tournaments on this channel.
TV Brasil’s first broadcasts came in Standard Definition, but a High Definition feed was developed and subsequently aired by the network in the early 2010s. Both feeds are still available for users to watch.
