Jednotka history, coverage, features
Jednotka is a Slovakian television channel owned and operated by the Radio and Television of Slovakia company. The channel was launched on January 1, 1993 under the name STV1, but it was later rebranded to Jednotka in 2004. It has been frequently regarded as one of the most popular public channels in the country.
Over the years, Jednotka has been known as an entertainment channel. The network has included tv series, overed topics such as tv series, lifestyle shows, quiz shows, sitcoms, sports broadcasts, reality shows, and news broadcasts to its programming. The content of this channel is mostly aired in Slovakian language, although some shows may be aired in their original language if they have been produced abroad.
Speaking about its sports content, Jednotka has aired highlights shows and live football games throughout its history. Some of the football competitions covered on this channel have included World Cup Qualifying games, UEFA Euro matches, and FIFA World Cup clashes.
Jednotka saw the light as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed was launched in the early 2010s. Both feeds may still be available in most regions of the country.

Jednotka is owned and operated by Radio and Television of Slovakia.
Slovak Television and Radio (Slovak: Slovenská televízia a rozhlas), in short STVR is a nationwide public broadcasting, state-funded organization in Slovakia. Its headquarters are located in Bratislava. Radio and Television of Slovakia (RTVS) was created in 2011 following a merger of Slovenská televízia (Slovak Television) with Slovenský rozhlas (Slovak Radio). On 1 July, 2024 RTVS was transformed into new organization named Slovak Television and Radio (STVR). STVR is a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
