SBS 6 history, coverage, features
SBS 6 is a Dutch television channel owned and operated by the Talpa Network. It was launched on August 28, 1995, and its initials stand for Scandinavian Broadcasting System. It became the third commercial TV station to be launched in the Netherlands after RTL 4 and RTL 5.
SBS 6 has made a name for itself with its general entertainment programs. Most of those have been in-house productions, but international shows have also been available on this network. Entertainment, news shows, films, tv series, and sports have been some of the topics that have been available for viewers on this channel as time has gone by.
Speaking about sports, SBS 6 has aired darts tournaments, football competitions, speedskating events, and even extreme sports events. When it comes to football, this channel has aired some of the top UEFA Champions League games, while also adding friendly and competitive matches for the Dutch National Team. Games for the Oranje side have included UEFA Euro Qualifying games and FIFA World Cup matches over the years.
SBS 6 started airing its content in 1995 in Standard Definition, but a new High-Definition feed was made available for all users in the early 2000s. A downscaled version of the HD feed may be available on some carriers for users who have not been able to switch to HD technology.
