About
MNC TV History, Coverage, Features
MNC TV is an Indonesian television channel owned and operated by MNC. This channel was launched on December 26, 1990 as a trial broadcast, while its official operations began on January 23, 1991 under the name TPI. The channel would be rebranded in 2010, when it was named MNC TV. The channel’s re-launch under its new name took place on October 20, 2010.
Over the years, MNC TV has been known as a general entertainment channel, with educational shows, sports, movies, animation shows, religious programs, and more being available to watch on this channel. While most of the content has been produced in-house, there have been some international productions available to watch on MNC TV.
Speaking about sports, MNC TV has covered a wide variety of disciplines, which have included football, wrestling, futsal, and motorsports. The network has included domestic tournaments such as the Indonesian Liga 1 and Liga 2, while also adding Serie A, Eredivisie, La Liga, Brazilian League, and Premier League games to its programming. International club tournaments such as the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup have also been available to watch. National team football has also featured on this channel with games for the AFF Cup being aired by MNC TV.
MNC TV was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed saw the light in 2010 during its rebranding and became the primary option to watch this channel. A downscaled version of MNC TV has been made available for those users who do not have access to HD technology.
