MAX is a Norwegian television channel owned and operated by SBS Discovery Media. The channel was launched on November 1, 2010, with the channel’s primary target audience being male adults. MAX’s initial broadcast became the most successful launch for a Norwegian channel since 1992 after attracting over one million viewers.
As stated before, MAX’s broadcasts have been aimed at a male audience, with sports, TV series, movies, and other broadcasts being the core of its programming. While most of the channel’s content has been produced in Norway, some shows have been imported from England and the United States to increase the channel’s audience.
Speaking about sports, MAX has covered a wide variety of topics, which have included mixed martial arts, motorsports, and football. The channel has focused on domestic football since its launch, with coverage of the Norwegian Eliteserien being at the very core of its programming.
MAX was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed was launched on April 30, 2013. While the HD feed has become the primary option in Norway, users might be able to watch a downscaled version of this channel in certain pay-tv carriers.
