IB3 history, coverage, features
IB3 is a publicly funded television channel from the Balearic Islands. It is owned and operated by the Ens Públic de Radiotelevisió de les Illes Balears, which launched the channel on September 5, 2005, as a bilingual channel, as the network aired content in Catalan and Spanish. Eventually, the channel would switch to an all-Catalan approach years later. The channel is also a member of the Federación de Organismos de Radio y Televisión Autonómicos, or FORTA.
Being an autonomous channel, IB3 can be categorized as a general entertainment channel. The channel’s feed has included magazine shows, general and local news broadcasts, documentaries, movies, children’s programming, sports, and more.
Speaking about sports, IB3 has focused its content on general highlights, with special attention on the performances by teams and personalities from the Balearic Islands. Over the years, there have been shows that offer in-depth football coverage. There has also been another show that includes every other sports discipline out there, especially when there is a team from the region involved.
IB3 broadcasts its content via an HD feed. Users who do not have access to that technology will watch a downscaled version of the same feed.
