About France 3 Lorraine
France 3 is a French free-to-air television channel owned and operated by France Televisions. It was launched on December 31, 1972 under the name La Troisième Chaîne Couleur, but it would later be rebranded to FR3 in 1975. Eventually, the channel would undergo one more rebranding in 1992, when its name was changed to France 3.
France 3 is a network of regional television services, which provide daily news, entertainment, and general programming for each one of its regions each week. The channel also produces content in Paris centered around news (both domestic and international) as well as programming that might be of interest in all French territory.
Since its last rebranding, France 3 has focused on educational shows, cultural programming, news, children’s shows, and some shows produced by other networks. Current affairs shows, sports events, and feature films from some of its regional partners may also be available on France 3.
France 3 Lorraine is one of the network’s 24 local metropolitan branches working under France 3’s wing. This regional channel was launched in 1965 as ORTF Tele Lorraine-Champagne, but it was subsequently rebranded as FR3 Lorraine-Champagne-Ardenne in 1975, the year in which it joined France 3’s regional channel network. Later, in 2010, France 3 decided to split France 3 Lorraine-Champagne Ardenne into two different channels.
Throughout its history, France 3 Lorraine has offered content aired by the channel’s regional branch in Paris, adding regional programs that have included news, travel and leisure programs, political debate shows, cultural agenda programs, and more. France 3 Lorraine broadcasts its content on both HD and SD formats.
