About
ERT 3 History, Coverage, Features
ERT 3 is a Greek television channel owned and operated by ERT, a state-funded television company from that country. It was launched on December 14, 1988 under the name ET3, and kep that denomination until June 29, 2015, when its name was changed to ERT 3. Like its sister channels, ERT 3 was shut down in 2013, but members of the channel kept broadcasting via internet to keep the channel alive. The channel’s headquarters are in Thessaloniki, which differs from the rest of the company which is based in Athens.
Over the years, ERT 3 has been known as an entertainment channel, with most of the shows focusing on airing content related to the northern side of the country, although ERT 3 is available in all of Greece. The shows aired on this channel have included political shows, science programs, news broadcasts, documentaries, cultural shows, and sports news.
Speaking about sports, the channel has covered a wide variety of disciplines, especially those who have to do with Greek teams or athletes. ERT 3 does not broadcast live sports events since those duties fall on ERT Sports, one of its sister channels.
ERT 3 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed was launched to improve the viewer’s experience on December 1, 2020. Both feeds may be available on most regions of the Greek nation.
