About Antena 3
Antena 3 is a Spanish television channel. It is owned and operated by Atresmedia, and it was launched on January 25, 1988 as Canal 10 España. The channel would be rebranded to Antena 3 on January 25, 1990 and has kept the name ever since. Antena 3 became the first private television channel in Spain, ending the dominance of RTVE in the country since its launch.
Antena 3 is considered a general entertainment channel since it has something for almost everyone in the family. After years of criticism for its sensationalist content, Antena 3 has included game shows, TV series, comedy programs, and general information shows. The content in this channel has also been spiced up with the inclusion of movies and political debates.
Being a general information and entertainment channel, Antena 3’s sports coverage has been limited to highlights shared on their news broadcasts, with most of the attention going to Spanish athletes around the world and football activity in La Liga or the UEFA Champions League over the years.
Antena 3 has been available on SD since its launche in 1990, but a High Definition feed was launched on September 28, 2010. Pay-tv carriers across the country may offer either one of these options for their subscribers.
