After surprising the world by making it all the way to the World Cup final, Croatia will be determined to prove that it was not all just a fluke as the Vatreni face Spain in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday evening. However, the World Cup finalists, who lost 4-2 to France in the final game, come into this fixture having recorded a 1-1 draw against a Portugal side who did not have the talismanic Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks.

Although Luis Enrique's men beat England 2-1 in their UEFA Nations League opener to sit top of this group, it has not fully erased doubts about Spain. After all, La Furia Roja were humiliated at this summer's World Cup in arguably one of the biggest upsets, which saw them lose on penalties to lowly-ranked hosts Russia in the round of 16. Despite predictably enjoying most of the possession agianst England - just like they did against Russia - they nonetheless conceded a goal, and their problems in defense is something Croatia will certainly look to exploit in Tuesday's encounter.

In fact, Spain have kept just two clean sheets in their last ten games - which will be a worrying fact for the hosts as Croatia showed this past summer that their goals can come from anyone and anywhere on the pitch. The Vatreni don't have a star striker in their ranks, but they did beat Spain 2-1 at EURO 2016 and will look to repeat this as they aim to show the world they deserve to be truly taken seriously as a footballing powerhouse.
