Business is not booming for the Swedish forward’s sports brand.

Zlatan Ibrahimović’s clothing line dubbed A-Z which stands for “Amateur to Zlatan” is on the verge of collapsing after incurring mammoth losses over the years. The sportswear brand, over the past two years alone, has had more than a 20-million-euro (SEK 210 million) deficit, according to Swedish news outlet Dagens Industri.

Due to the decline in business Norwegian group Norske Varner – owner of the Dressman and Carlings brands, who was affiliated to A-Z, has ended its partnership. A statement released by the company indicates that despite Ibrahimović’s undertaking experiencing remarkable growth in 2017, investments and business operations in Europe have become too costly.

Financial reports from Norske Varner indicates that net losses of SEK 105 million (10.5 million euros) were recorded in 2016 and 2017, with the total loss for the two years approximately amounting to SEK 210 million. A breakdown reveals that the company lost almost SEK 300,000 in losses per day

The A-Z sportswear brand was first launched online in 2016 in 11 European countries, including Norway, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Holland, France, the UK, Austria, Spain, Italy and Ibra’s native Sweden. The primary mission of the brand is to make sports equipment more accessible to athletes but has massively failed to meet expectations.
