The Portuguese manager's clock is seemingly running down at a fast rate at Manchester United.

Former Manchester United star Lee Sharp believes that Jose Mourinho will not be in charge of the Red Devils by Christmas this year. A poor outing against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday saw the Portuguese manager's side fall to a surprising 3-2 defeat, ensuring that their losing streak at the Amex Stadium continued for the second season running.

A few Manchester United players came under massive scrutiny following the end of the game, particularly Eric Baily and Victor Lindelof for their recurrent mistakes which led to the goals.

However, Mourinho, this time, was adamant to single out any of his men for criticism having gained the reputation of doing so in recent times. Paul Pogba, who was the captain of the Red Devils for the day, subsequently admitted that his team's attitude was generally poor.

Nevertheless, Lee Sharp has insinuated that the negativity around Manchester United is generated by Jose Mourinho, whom he believes is still bitter about the club's failure to bring onboard the reinforcement he asked for before the end of the transfer window.

"I am expecting the manager to get sacked before Christmas," he told Sky Sports.

"If he is going to continue with this dourness and this moaning, then people will turn around and say this attitude is not getting us to the top so we need to change it.

"It just seems same old same old. As much as the press and fans have been on Jose Mourinho's case about the negativity over the past few seasons and him moaning about players he has and has not got, he just seems to ignore everybody and carry on as usual.

"He looks fed up and it is reflecting in his team's performances. He is playing negative stuff."

Manchester United faces another daunting test when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford in their third game of the season.
