And their tense exchange was all caught on camera.

Any doubt surrounding the rift between Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho is slowly dying, as the pair clashed during a training session for all to see. The tension between the two was visible to the naked eye, as they endured an icy exchange on Wednesday morning.

As shown by footage published by Sky Sports, the Frenchman appeared to be in a good mood after being left out of Tuesday's League Cup tie. He ran over to the management team and shook Michael Carrick's hand before an unhappy Mourinho uttered something to the midfielder after skipping greetings.

What was exactly said remains unknown, but the Special One's choice of words did not sit well with the World Cup winner. The former Juventus ace then stared down his manager, exchanging a few words with the Portuguese tactician while keeping their distance.

This incident comes shortly after Man United's most expensive signing was stripped of the vice-captaincy by the gaffer. After criticizing the team's approach in the 1-1 draw with Wolves, he was also forced to watch Tuesday's shock defeat to Derby from the stands.

This is just further proof that all is not well at Old Trafford between the player and manager. The 24-year-old is seen by many to be the future of the club despite his inconsistency, but his rocky relationship with Mourinho could end up in his Red Devils departure.

Pogba has been linked with a move to Barcelona all summer and has hinted towards an exit. With occurrences like this happening regularly, it's hard to see both Pogba and Mourinho working together for long. Unfortunately, it may eventually come down to who Man United is willing to sacrifice.
