The German outfit has confirmed that it has secured the service of the Spanish forward.

Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund has confirmed the signing of Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer in a season-long loan deal which will run until June 2019. A clause in the agreement maintains that the Signal Iduna outfit has the option to buy the 24-year-old forward after his contract ends.

Alcacer completed his medical on Monday and will wear the No. 9 shirt. The ex-Valencia player comes in to replace Michy Batshuayi who also joined Dortmund for a short loan spell from Chelsea after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club for Arsenal earlier in January.

Follwing his move to Barcelona in 2016, Paco Alcacer's development has somewhat derailed despite previously excelling for Valencia. In contrast to his 43 goals in 124 appearances for Los Che the Spanish striker, who was mostly utilized as the back up for Luis Suarez, made a total of 50 appearances for the Blaugrana and scored 15 times in the process.

In his stint with the Catalans, the striker managed a La Liga trophy and two Copa del Rey titles as part of his honors. At Dortmund, Alcacer will be hoping to rejuvenate his career and he is already relishing the prospect of playing in front of his new club's fame Yellow Wall.

"I'm really looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga soon. It's one of the best leagues in the world and BVB, with their unbelievable fans and their famous South Stand, probably represent something magical for every football player," Alcacer was quoted to have said by BVB's official website.
