What has been México and Chile's form ahead of this game?

Mexico gets to this match with a new coach that represents a wind of change for El Tri. After Juan Carlos Osorio's disappointing end as Mexico's coach, Gerardo Martino will try to bring back the good times for El Tri, a team that has only been able to win one of their five friendlies since their World Cup exit. El Tri gets to Friday's clash on a three-game losing streak, including a 1-0 defeat against Chile and two 2-0 losses against Argentina.

After missing out on the 2018 World Cup, Chile is back with their mind set on winning a third Copa America title in a row. La Roja ended last year with five games, winning two, losing two more and drawing their remaining fixture. Curiously, their two wins came against CONCACAF-based opponents: Mexico (1-0) and Honduras (4-1). This will not be the only game for Reinaldo Rueda's men in the U.S., as they will face the Stars and Stripes on March 26 to end March's international break.

Gerardo Martino's term as Mexico's coach has gotten off to a rough start, especially due to a controversy with Porto's Jesús Corona, who refused to join the team due to an injury. Martino did not seem to buy Corona's reasons to skip training with El Tri, and judging by his words, it will be hard for the man known as "Tecatito" to be considered once again by the Argentine boss in the next few years.
