The Real Madrid boss discussed his future ahead of the Champions League tie with Viktoria Plzen.

Julen Lopetegui has maintained that he is not concerned about his future at Real Madrid despite the club's recent struggles suggesting that he might be sacked soon. The former Spain head coach is under massive pressure to produce results ahead of his side's UEFA Champions League group stage clash with Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday.

Having made his bow as manager of Los Blancos following the start of this season, Julen Lopetegui has, in recent times, seen his team on the wrong end of multiple results. Currently, the 52-year-old manager's side has registered three defeat in succession and has registered just two wins in eight matches across all competitions.

With claims of Lopetegui facing the sack soon intensifying in weeks gone by, the former FC Porto manager appeared unnerved while he addressed the press ahead of Tuesday's UCL encounter.

"The changing room is strong because the players are champions and they're not champions by coincidence. They overcome tricky situation with that strength and that quality they have," he declared.

"The team is alive, very excited to put in a big performance tomorrow and are convinced that they can turn around the situation. There are positive examples from more adverse situations.

"I am looking at the situation the same as ever, I am carrying out my day to day as usual and that is what is under our control," he added.

"If you want to see a defeated coach then don't look here. In my view, we have a game tomorrow that we are looking forward to and we will go about it with total commitment and drive. I am not thinking about anything else other than tomorrow's game," explained the coach.

"I am here right now, I cannot confirm anything else right now. I will be the coach tomorrow," Lopetegui concluded.

His Real Madrid team hosts Viktoria Plzen in Tuesday's clash on the back of a shock 1-0 defeat to CSKA Moscow in the previous Group G game. The Merengues momentarily sits in third place on the table with a point separating them and the Russian club while trailing AS Roma by goal difference.
