The South American coach has also been linked to the Argentinean and the Mexican National Teams.

One of the coaches that has been linked with the vacant spot to coach the United States Mens' Soccer Team is free after six years. Coach Jose Pekerman decided to leave his position with Colombia after six years coaching Los Cafeteros' senior team.

Pekerman was in charge of Colombia for the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups, leading the South American side to its best-ever finish in that competition. His job included supervising the team's youth categories, where he spotted talented men such as James Rodríguez, which he used to boost the team's performances.

Pekerman's deal with the South American team concluded last Friday, and he decided to step away from the charge this week, after failing to reach a new deal with the Colombian Football Federation.

"I'll always check on how Colombia is getting on, not just in football but also as a country, as a people. I'll always be part of this country & hope the success continues," Pekerman stated after his resignation was confirmed.

The highly-rated boss will know have to decide if he takes some time off or if he keeps on working. Pekerman has been linked to the USMNT and Mexican teams for quite some time, but there's also a number of Argentine execs that want him to return to La Albiceleste, a position he held from 2004 to 2006.

Pekerman was in charge of Colombia's National Team for 74 games, winning 41 of those matches.
