Chelsea FC have sacked their manager Jose Mourinho, according to BBC.

The 52-year-old manager was on his second season at the club, having joined in June 2013.

Last season, he steered Chelsea to win the English Premier League eight points clear. But so far this season, out of their 16 league matches, the Blues have lost nine, drawn three and won only four.

It is such disappointing statistics that have left the defending champions just one point above the relegation zone in the Barclays Premier League. His latest loss was against league leaders Leicester City on Monday. Before that, the Stamford Bridge side had also lost to underdogs AFC Bournemouth at home.

The English club is now hunting for a new coach to steer them to a respectable finish at the end of the season. Reports in England suggest that former Blues manager Guus Hiddink could make a sensational return to the club as Mou’s replacement. Other media reports also claim that Bayern Munich’s Pep Guardiola, former Liverpool man Brendan Rodgers and Juande Ramos are possible replacements for the embattled tactician.

Although Chelsea have qualified for the knockout stage of the Champions League despite their poor run in the domestic league, their performance has been quite disappointing compared to last season’s.
