The German manager insists that his side is capable of coping with the pressure coming its way.

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has dismissed claims that his side might crack under pressure in its bid to secure the Premier League title for the first time in 29 years.

The Reds, following a stellar start to the season, rank atop league table and are currently under pressure from Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur. The former, in particular, is rapidly catching grounds on the Merseysiders as the win over Arsenal on Sunday reduced the point deficit between the first and second position to just two.

However, the difference can be restored to five once again should the Liverpool win away to West Ham on Monday. Despite failing to capitalize on Manchester City's shock defeat to Newcastle by drawing 1-1 at home Leicester in the previous outing, Jurgen Klopp maintains that his side is mentally tough to stay on course.

"Yes, there is pressure," he told Liverpool's official website ahead of Monday's clash with West Ham United.

"There was pressure last year, a lot of pressure when we played Manchester City away in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and we dealt with it.

"There was pressure (in the Champions League semi-finals) at Rome, there was pressure in so many moments in the Premier League. We had to win each game.

"Will there be nervous moments? Yes, for sure. Don't make them bigger than they are because there were nervous situations last year, two years ago, three years ago. That is part of football.

"This club has not been champions for 29 years, so how can people sit there and watch it like (they are watching) City?" Klopp added.

"We desperately want it, that is how it is, they really want it with all they have. I get that and we try with all we have. But there are no guarantees. I am not a nervous person."
