The Egyptian ace was allowed to return to Liverpool after picking up a knock in the recent win over Swaziland.

Mohamed Salah's international break has been cut short after the Egyptian ace was allowed to return to Liverpool early. This comes after the attacker picked up an injury in his nation's recent victory.

The 26-year-old took part in the Pharaoh's clash with Swaziland on Friday, scoring from a corner kick en route to their 4-1 win in this Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. However, the Premier League ace was forced to leave the pitch in the second-half's stoppage time.

The Ballon d'Or candidate suffered a knock with minutes remaining on the clock and thus failed in his attempt to continue on playing after receiving treatment. The sight of the former Roma ace limping off the pitch was a scare for the Reds, but he is now on his way back to Anfield for recovery.

"Javier Aguirre has decided to let Mohamed Salah return to his club and not participate in the Swaziland match on Tuesday to give him more rest," it was confirmed on Facebook (via Goal).

"During the previous match against Swaziland, Salah complained of stress in the musculoskeletal muscle. He was examined medically and radiation was performed on the area of complaint after the game."

It is believed that Salah will not face an extended period on the sidelines, as he suffered a muscle strain and not a rupture. Furthermore, the Reds are more equiped to cope in his absence this season with the addition of Shaqiri.

The Egyptian star has come under heavy scrutiny this season after his underwhelming start to the season. So far, he only has three goals under his belt for Klopp's men in all competitions and will thus hope to regain full fitness in no time in order to bounce back.
