The Frenchman was critical of his performance after his team fell in Sunday afternoon's Premier League encounter.

Manchester United skipper Paul Pogba was on the scoresheet against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday but his strike only proved to be futile with his side falling to a surprise defeat. For the second season in a row, the Red Devils failed to pick up a point at the Amex Stadium.

Recurrent flaws in defense saw Jose Mourinho's side concede three goals in the first half, a feat which last occurred in a clash with Arsenal back in 2015. The Portuguese manager, who was critical of his players' performances in the past, this time around, refused to apportion blame to any member of his squad and only cited "big mistakes" as the cause of their downfall.

Nonetheless, his captain for the last two games, Paul Pogba, was quick to shoulder the blame and admitted that the loss to Brighton was well deserved.

"We lost and the attitude that we had today was that we deserved to win," Pogba told Sky Sport after the game.

"The attitude that we had was not like we wanted to beat them. They had more hunger than us and that showed on the pitch. I put myself first.

"My attitude wasn't right enough. We'll keep trying and keep pushing and obviously, it's a lesson for us.

"We made mistakes we shouldn't make. The attitude has to be right and we missed that today."

Certainly, a lot will be required of the former Juventus midfielder and his teammates as they will welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford in their next Premier League outing scheduled for August 27.
