The Red Devils conceded a whopping four times before the break, with many Manchester United fans leaving the Etihad Stadium early as a result.

Manchester City and Manchester United locked horns on Sunday in the standout showdown for Matchweek 9. The defending champions took on an in-form Ten Hag side in what many predicted to be an interesting affair.

And while many found the game entertaining, it quickly became apparent that this fixture would be a nightmare for the Red Devils. While Pep's men were the clear favorites, the home side marched to a huge lead much earlier than expected.

It took only eight minutes for the Cityzens to go one-nil up, with academy graduate Phil Foden netting early to break the deadlock. After that, it became a matter of when, not if, Varane and Co. would concede again.

The unstoppable Erling Haaland made sure to grab the headlines, netting in the 34th minute to score on his Manchester Derby debut. Just under four minutes later, the Norwegian goalscoring machine completed his brace, combining with Kevin de Bruyne to bury the ball past the helpless David de Gea.

And if that wasn't painful enough for Manchester United, they went on to concede a fourth just before half-time, with Foden getting his brace after finishing off a lovely counterattack alongside De Bruyne and Haaland (again).

And as a result, many of the away supporters were caught on camera leaving the Etihad Stadium before the break, and understandably so, as this is the second time this season their club have gone 4-0 down inside the first 45 minutes.

And as expected, this sparked several merciless trolls on social media as football fans and even one Premier League club joined hands in mocking the Red Devils. Check out the best tweets below.
