The English ace was left out of Southgate's recent squad for the upcoming international break, sparking anger from Manchester United fans.

All eyes were on Gareth Southgate's team selection for the upcoming international break, which kicks off on September 20, as it is the final week of preparation before the Three Lions jet over to Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

As a result, this call-up would be a great indication as to who will make the final 26-man list for this winter's tournament and who will be left at home to watch the tournament from his TV.

Sadly for Jadon Sancho, he did not make Southgate's squad for the upcoming international break, hinting that he has a lot left to do to prove himself to the current national team boss. This decision came despite his promising start to the campaign, with the former Dortmund sensation scoring three goals already for the Red Devils.

In fact, the 22-year-old responded to his omission in perfect fashion as he was in action on the same of the announcement. His absence was confirmed on Thursday, with Ten Hag's side taking to the field later that same day, facing Sheriff in the UEFA Europa League.

And the Englishman got himself on the scoresheet once again, breaking the deadlock with a well-worked first-half goal before Cristiano Ronaldo doubled their lead with a penalty.

As a result, several fans took to social media to express their disappointment after the attacker was ignored once again. However, manager Erik ten Hag took another approach during his post-match interviews, instead challenging his player to take their game to the next level this season.

"I'm really pleased [for Jadon Sancho]," the Old Trafford tactician said, as per the Daily Mail. "Another goal… he's doing well, but I think there's much more room for improvement for him, because he has so many skills.

"We will fill in the period really good. We can go specific. That can be beneficial to continue the season.

"We know, after this break, every three days there will be a game."

Sancho's other two goals this season came against Leicester in the Premier League and at home to Liverpool in Manchester United's first victory of the season. While the Englishman has "much more room for improvement", as stated by Ten Hag, it's a huge boost to see Jadon get on the scoresheet more often after his disappointing debut season at Old Trafford.

Nonetheless, the former Bundesliga star faces a race against time to earn his ticket to Qatar 2022. This time around, Jack Grealish and Jarrod Bowen were favored by the manager, getting the call-up alongside Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling.

Additionally, Marcus Rashford, who is currently out with injury, is also enjoying a renaissance under Ten Hag and will push for his spot in the FIFA World Cup squad, meaning Sancho will face an uphill battle.
