The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri are set to leave their historic ground in the next five years in lieu of a different home base.

Depending on which team one supports, the city of Milan's most famous stadium is known as the Stadio San Siro or the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, with Milan fans going with the former while Inter supporters prefer the latter.

However, within the next few years, there are set to be some huge changes for this historic ground. As per reports from Italy, namely La Gazzetta dello Sport, both Milan and Inter are anticipated to not only abandon their old stadium, but to demolish it in lieu of a new venue.

While a great deal is still up in the air, the same report claims that the new project will be called "The Cathedral" and the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (or San Siro) will be torn down sometime during the 2027/28 campaign, when both sides are expected to move to their new base.

Some naturally have advocated for Milan and Inter to finally have separate grounds rather than sharing - quite akin to big city rival sides elsewhere in Europe such as Manchester United and Manchester City, or Chelesa and Tottenham, but that unfortunately does not seem like a realistic financial proposition for either side anytime soon.

Milan and Inter, who both recently ended Juventus's reign as the top side in Italy by winning the Scudetto in 2022 and 2021, sit in third and sixth spot respectively in Serie A. The Rossoneri are next in action against Napoli on Sunday while Inter will travel to take on Udinese on Saturday.
