Gunners and Latics will go head-to-head at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. Arsenal are against the wall, and a defeat would really but them in a bad spot.

Preview: Arsenal faces a must win at Wembley Stadium

It has been nine long years for Arsenal fans, and on Saturday, they have a chance to see their club at Wembley. Taking part in the semifinals of the competition will not be good enough, and they will expect the Gunners to progress to the final.

All the pressure is on their side, and Arsene Wenger will be on the radar.

The Frenchman knows that he is up against his best chance to claim a title, since their last piece of silverware in 2005. All their injuries will not help, but it should not be an excuse.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (groin), Tomas Rosicky (thigh) and Kieran Gibbs (ankle) all face late fitness tests. If they are unable to feature, they would join a long list of absences for the Gunners.

Arsenal will also be without Mathieu Flamini who is suspended.

Ready to make his return to the squad will be Aaron Ramsey, who made his first appearance against Everton since his injury on Boxing Day. The Welshman will offer the Gunners some more creativity in the final third, and if he can continue his goal scoring form, his teammates would surely welcome that.

Underestimating Wigan would be fatal for Arsenal. The pressure is all on their side, and failure to win could see Arsene Wenger’s future up in the air.

The Latics are the current champions and they have already eliminated Manchester City at the Etihad. Knocking off another Premier League club would just another great result for a club that seems to enjoy the big stage.

Wigan’s manager, Uwe Rosler watch Arsenal’s defeat against Everton very closely, and he will try to use that to his advantage on Saturday.

“I watched the game last Sunday, and it was another very impressive lesson from Roberto, tactically how Everton approached the game,” said the German.

“Not a lot of people focused on how disciplined and how focused Everton operated in the first 20-25 minutes without the ball. There were good pictures for me to learn from and also take one or two things on board, like I did with Manchester City in the last round.”
