The Cityzens will be looking to extend their impressive unbeaten home record in the UCL when Dortmund arrive on Wednesday.

As a result of last week's passing of Queen Elizabeth II, all Premier League fixtures were suspended as the United Kingdom mourns the 96-year-old monarch. This means that Manchester City, who were set to play Tottenham in a mouth-watering tie, will come into their upcoming Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund with a couple of extra days rest.

Pep Guardiola's side again will be mounting a challenge for the coveted continental prize after coming up short in recent times, and have kicked off proceedings in resounding fashion as they eased to a very comfortable 4-0 win over Sevilla on matchday one. New signing Erling Haaland has taken to Premier League football like a proverbial duck to water, and the Norwegian international has also opened his account in the Champions League with a brace during his team's clash against Sevilla last week. Now, for the first time, he will be facing his former team Borussia Dortmund, where he scored 86 goals in 89 appearances across all comps, and naturally, die Schwarzgelben will be doing their utmost best to stop their former colleague.

Dortmund are currently under the guidance of Edin Terzic, who was brought in as a permanent manager earlier this season. Once again, they will hope to unseat Bayern Munich as the undisputed champions of Germany. However, a 3-0 loss to RB Leipzig at the weekend has seen them tumble down the table into fifth spot. Not exactly the kind of result Terzic had wanted to see after his team easily beat Danish side Copenhagen 3-0 in their group stage opener.

Additionally, Dortmund do not have a good track record when it comes to playing English sides. The last time they were on the winning side was nearly nine years ago, when they beat Arsenal 2-1 in October 2013. Meanwhile, City's record against German sides is quite impressive, to say the least. Interestingly, the last team to beat the Cityzens on home turf was none other than Bayern Munich, who were then under the guidance of current City boss Guardiola.

Should City win on Tuesday (or at least avoid defeat), they will match Chelsea's record of 21 UCL home games unbeaten between 2006 and 2009. Will Haaland, as many expect, come back to haunt his former side? Or will Dortmund manage to put an end to their frustrating run on English soil?
